This past weekend, as the president of the South County Democratic Club, our officers visited the The White House. We were humbled and honored to walk the halls once graced by our first Black President and First Lady, Barack and Michelle Obama. This visit was symbolic of how far African Americans have come and underscores the importance of recognizing Juneteenth.
Juneteenth is more than a day of remembrance; it is a testament to our resilience, strength, and unyielding pursuit of freedom and justice. It marks the end of slavery and the dawn of a new chapter. Our journey from oppression to success is woven with determination, courage, and hope. From Civil Rights heroes to today's trailblazers, our history is rich with triumphs.
Being African American means embracing this legacy with pride, striving for excellence, and our ancestors by continuing their fight for equality. Today, we celebrate our past, present, and future achievements. We are doctors, lawyers, artists, and leaders shaping the world. Let us reflect on our journey, remember the sacrifices, and celebrate the victories.
On this Juneteenth, let us proudly proclaim:
“We are African American. We are resilient. We are triumphant. And our story is one of unparalleled strength and success.”
