To honor her incredible legacy, we have established the Mirinda Jackson Scholarship Fund. This fund will provide scholarships to students at Prince George’s County Community College and Bowie State University who are majoring in Political Science—ensuring that Mirinda’s passion for civic engagement and leadership continues to inspire future generations.

Testimonials

It is amazing being a scholarship recipient and being recognized for the work I have done to help the community and be a leader at my age. The event was enlightening seeing all of the African American leaders within our community that have done such amazing things to push what African Americans can do. To be among these people and understand that I can help the community around me a little bit at a time following in the history that has been built around me.

It is important to celebrate the life and legacy of our beloved former Treasurer Mirinda Jackson by honoring outstanding community leaders and awarding scholarships to bright young minds from our county. This is how we keep her spirit alive—through impact, inspiration, and investment in the future.

On Saturday, June 21, 2025, the South County Democratic Club (SCDC) hosted its 2nd Annual Mirinda Jackson Fundraiser Soirée, a powerful evening of celebration, elegance, and community unity. Held at the vibrant Arts’tination art gallery at National Harbor, the all-white affair welcomed more than 100 guests who gathered to honor trailblazing leaders, rising student scholars, and the enduring legacy of public service.

I believe in the power of faith to transform lives and communities. This recognition encourages me to keep pressing forward, knowing that the work I do is making a difference.

The Mirinda Jackson Fundraiser Soirée was more than just an event, it was a powerful tribute to a woman who believed deeply in lifting others as she climbed. Mirinda’s legacy of service and community-building was felt in every moment of the evening. I was incredibly humbled to be recognized among leaders who share that same commitment to progress and purpose. Seeing the students whose futures are being shaped by this work reminded me that when we invest in the next generation, we honor the trailblazers who paved the way. I’m grateful to the South County Democratic Club for continuing her vision and for creating such a meaningful celebration of impact.

There's nothing more powerful than rewarding deserving scholars with increased opportunities to reduce financial burdens, while thriving academically, as they continue to represent Prince George's County. South County Democratic Club has created an amazing medium to do just this in the name of Ms. Mirinda Jackson, not only representing a member of our community but also a pillar of academic excellence, scholarship, and Prince George's County Pride.

At one of South County’s creative landmarks, we came together to celebrate the legacy of Mirinda Jackson in a powerful way—by uplifting three young Black men with scholarships that fuel their promising futures. One has already championed a statewide bill to support students with invisible disabilities, while the other two are preparing to launch careers in tech and health care. The evening also highlighted local artistry and honored trailblazers in politics, business, and community service. It was a defining moment—where the path paved by leaders of the past met the bright promise of those rising to lead next.
